"Scouting brings out the best in each of us. Live what you've learned and will continue to learn. Help others to hike the trails, to keep steadfast in the paths of truth, of honor, of duty, that all of you can soar together on eagles' wings. You are part of a mighty army of youth, even a royal army, and every organization, to be successful, has an honored tradition to uphold. May you uphold Scouting's tradition, for it can be as a lighthouse beacon in the world of stormy seas, it can be a motivation to prepare for your role in life, it can be a yardstick against which you measure your accomplishments." ~President Thomas S. Monson--2010

Sendona Camp and Day Hike

We will be camping near Sedona, Cresent Moon Ranch camp site (if they are full we might end up somewhere else near there).  We will be getting up early the next morning and hitting the trailhead at Boynton Canyon.  For more information on this trail see the website here:

The leaders will be making dinner for the troop, but the boys should have a food assignment for their breakfast (check with your patrol leader).  They should also bring a trail lunch to each during the hike and 3 L of water.

We are going to be parking the cars near our camp site, so this will NOT be a backpacking trip.  We would still like to boy to put as much of their gear into their bag as possible.  The day hike on Saturday will be a 10 mile hike and they should bring a day pack to carry their water, lunch, and a trail first aid kit.  If we hit the trail early enough we will take them over to sliderock to play in the water, so they should bring a swimsuit and old shoes (or water socks etc).  We should be home by dinner time on Saturday.

We will be meeting at the church at 4:30 PM, please don't be late as this campsite is a little farther away.

West Webber Creek Camp and Hike

This weekend we will be camping right next to Camp Geronimo just north of Payson (same spot as the previous Father's and Son's camp out) . The following morning we will be hiking up the Mogollon Rim along the West Webber Creek Trail  The hike is about 10 miles.  They should wear broken in shoes/boots and be wearing sunscreen and hats.

The boys will only be hiking with day packs, and can leave their gear in the cars.  They should come prepared with 3 liters of water and a trail lunch.  They should bring their own dinner and breakfast which will be at camp.

We are meeting at the church at 4:00 PM on Friday, and we expect to be back before dinner time on Saturday.

We always love it when fathers can come and camp with us.  If the 4:00 departure time is too early, and you can otherwise come we are more than willing to push back our departure time to accommodate your schedule.

Here is a link to a website about the trail we will be hiking:

Christopher Creek Campout Overview

It was a great hike . We stopped at a beautiful creek/waterfall then hiked three more miles to Tonto Creek. We did not run out of water or food. Next time you see brother Maxwell thank him he was able to come down to the campsite and helped us out when one of our vehicles broke down and took all of our gear, put it in his truck and droves boys without a ride back home we would probably still be in the forest without him. Although we were not able to go fishing like we planned we had a great trip.
